The Best Superhero Movies of All Time Show How Far the Genre Has Come

Here’s a popular complaint from 2012: I DON’T LIKE SUPERHERO MOVIES! I hear you. I… still hear you, metaphorical person from 2012. And that’s OK. We don’t all have to dig the same things. I just want you to hear me out for a minute. Superhero films are a little different nowadays. They’ve even shifted since the early days of the MCU, with all that Hulk smashing and Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man being a dick just to be one. Not fun. But the shift that’s happened since has been monumental. You have Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool, breaking the fourth wall in ways I’m still not comfortable with. The animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was so critically acclaimed for its animation (and its narrative) that it earned an Oscar. For all the OGs who like to watch muscles go boom, there’s Avengers: Endgame, a blockbuster that I am confident had more muscles to go boom than anything in the history of cinema. (Bonus: you can literally watch the whole lot of MCU here).Loving superhero movies doesn’t mean you have to love every one, but if you’re vehemently against the whole genre, we suggest you at least give these a shot.
