Destiny 2Bungie “Bring Challenge Back To Destiny.” The subhead was one of the four main pillars of a recent State of the Game post from Destiny 2 director Joe Blackburn detailing changes in Lightfall and the coming year. Among a certain crowd, there had been claims that players had grown too strong through power creep, with enemies too weak and simply put, Destiny 2 just wasn’t hard enough any more. But what arrived with Lightfall is a series of widespread difficulty changes that have been absolutely all over the map, with difficultly increased in strange ways in strange places, and then in other, more logical places, it’s absent altogether. Legendary Campaign – This seems to have been the standard bearer for most difficulty change in the game, given how well-received The Witch Queen’s campaign difficulty was. And while no, the story was not anywhere close to Witch Queen, the difficulty of the Legendary campaign still seemed pretty okay, a good balance of challenge and accessibility, outside of some odd decisions negating your build for must-use-Strand segments.
