Readers, this is your captain speaking: I hope you enjoyed Apple TV+’s Hijack as much as I did. Yesterday morning, the Idris Elba-starring series drew to a close. Which is a bummer! Hijack is my favorite show of the summer. So far, Apple hasn’t announced any plans for a second season of Hijack, even if Elba has kinda-sorta said he’d like to return. “I’d like that, but I just don’t want to put him on another hijack,” Elba told Variety back in June. “I’m open to that character coming back. I think if people were compelled to like the character, then I’m in.”Meanwhile, Hijack’s co-creator, Jim Field, told TV Insider that Season Two isn’t a far-off thought, saying, “never say never on anything.” He continued, “We’re just waiting to see how people react to this season. It’s been amazing hearing the response to the show, and we spent the best part of two years making the show, and we’ve literally only just finished making it. It’s pretty much right up to the moment it’s gone out. So right now we’re just sort of enjoying seeing how the world’s reacting to it.”Field even added: “I think Sam as a character is really compelling, I think the way Idris portrays him is really compelling, and I think it would always be interesting to see how he would react in other situations, of course.” Well!
